My Bank Holiday weekend…
So, last Friday night i decided to venture out into the big city for the first time in 10 years with a friend for a night of soft drinks, dancing and beautiful ladies. That was the plan anyway! We made the 30 minute train journey into Newcastle and settled on the first bar we saw outside the station.
After wandering round the streets stopping off in bar after bar we ended up in a loud, banging nightclub at 12.30am. It was the usual paid entry and queues waiting to be served, the place was packed.
Music from the 70’s and 80’s rang out over the booming speakers and the usual crush occurred whenever a single step was taken with the constant risk of a drink being toppled over your head at any moment keeping me on my toes at all times.
We headed for the dance floor so i could ‘move like Jagger’ whereas in fact, i moved more like a jaguar, lying in wait then pouncing on the first tune that caught my ears.
A girl on the dance floor kept checking me out in my white shirt and black jacket, we made eye contact, i smiled then continued to move my slim body to the beat of the music.
She continued to try to catch my eye but i wasn’t interested. She was no doubt a lovely girl but as the noise was banging and the crush was intense, i couldn’t see the point in even trying to speak or dance with her or anyone else for that matter.
The night reached 2am and the crowds started to disperse into the cool Newcastle night. I rang a taxi and we headed for the 15 minute journey home.
It was an interesting experience apart from a distinct lack of the beautiful women i was told so much about. There were some very pretty girls no doubt but i’m not interested or looking for silly party girls who’s enormous alcohol consumption is the main highlight of their week.
So after 3 rounds of alcohol being spilled on my stylish jacket throughout the night, not a single girl of high value i wanted to approach and the usual drunk teenagers lying on the pavements not knowing whether it’s Newcastle or New York, i got home to my bed at 2.45am for a well deserved sleep and the thought of whether it will be another decade till i make my return.
To be continued… 🙂
